The Pastoral Search Committee of the Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church (MBC), Inc., located at 8705 Gilroy Road, Nanjemoy, Maryland is prayerfully seeking a Pastor called by God to be the spiritual shepherd of its congregation.  The Pastor is responsible to God and the Church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to preach and teach the Holy Bible, to provide Christian leadership, and to engage in pastoral care of the congregation.

The candidate must be a born-again, baptized believer in Jesus Christ and have the ability to fulfill the spiritual needs of the congregation and lead by the Holy Spirit in accordance with Jeremiah 3:15, 2 Timothy 4:2 and Acts 20:28.

PASTORAL VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Pastoral Search Committee of the Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Inc., located at 8705 Gilroy Road, Nanjemoy, Maryland is prayerfully seeking a Pastor called by God to be the spiritual shepherd of its congregation.  The Pastor is responsible to God and the Church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to preach and teach the Holy Bible, to provide Christian leadership, and to engage in pastoral care of the congregation.

The candidate must be a born-again, baptized believer in Jesus Christ and have the ability to fulfill the spiritual needs of the congregation and lead by the Holy Spirit in accordance with Jeremiah 3:15, 2 Timothy 4:2 and Acts 20:28.

The Church has been in existence for over 155 years and has an active membership.  The Church is committed to fulfilling its mission: “Winning souls at any cost, equipping them with the Word of God and transforming their lives into being Disciples of Christ.”

PASTORAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must be a licensed and ordained Baptist minister/preacher with at least five (5) years minimum of ministerial experience with documentation to support credentials.

Must have demonstrated evidence that supports commitment to God and His Holy Word.

Must have attended qualified religious educational institutions/seminaries and obtained certificates and/or degrees.

Must have exhibited effective verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills, managerial and ministerial leadership abilities and decision-making capabilities.

Must have demonstrated experience as a visionary leader that embraces change that supports the spiritual advancement of the church’s mission and goals.

Must have displayed experience working with various church ministries to include youth and young adult programs.

Must have experience on spiritual, discipleship and evangelism development through specific training and seminars.

Must agree to preach and teach as requested to demonstrate ministerial skills and capabilities.

Must consent as part of the interview process to a criminal history background check, reference checks, and drug test.

PASTORAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Govern as the Church Shepherd by leading, feeding, guiding and guarding the flock.

Prepare, deliver and preach God inspired messages/sermons and teachings that are spiritually inspiring and theologically sound.  

Must be committed to administering the Ordinances of the Church.

Must attend and participate in Church sponsored services, events and programs.  

Must attend and support sister churches events and programs when invited.

Must be available to conduct weddings, home going services, and spiritual guidance.

Must regularly conduct educational/teaching (Sunday School/Bible Study) programs designed to broaden the knowledge and understanding of Holy Scriptures.

Must regularly conduct and participate in home communion, health care visitations and community missionary programs.  

Must conduct regular church meetings and appoint members of the Ministerial Staff and committees to assist in the performance of church related matters.

Must regularly meet with church leaders and missionaries to provide leadership guidance.

Must regularly attend conferences and meetings to include local and state associations, Sunday School Union of the State of Maryland and Vicinity, Inc., Potomac River Baptist Association, Inc. National Baptist Convention, and other religious educational institutions to inform and enhance the church’s ministries.
